Minutes for:  Tue. May 23, 2007

New Business

Great News!  Congratulations to Brian Keetch for being selected as Student of The Year!!!!

Band Awards Night will be Tuesday, May 29th at 6:30 p.m.  Today, a flyer went home with the students as to what type of itemst to bring to the awards night.  Students last names beginning with A-G - Napkins/Plates 25 each; H-L - Non-Cookie Dessert; M-S - Cookies; T-Z - Beverages/Cups - for every 2-liter bottle please provide 12 cups. 

June 5th will be an all band parent meeting  beginning with incoming freshmen parents orientation to be at 5:30 p.m and 6:30 p.m. for new and returning parents.  The new band booster board will be introduced to the parents and Jerry Burdick-Rutz and board members will review plans for the upcoming year including budget and fees for 2007-08 season.

The 2007-08  band parent meetings will be held the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month with emphasis on the all band parent meeting being held on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

The 2007-08 Budget was reviewed and will be presented at the June 5th all parent meeting.  A motion was made, seconded and approved to recommend the 1st semester band fees be set at $675.00.  A motion was made, seconded and approved to place the Drum Line fees  to be set at $525.00.  A  motion was made, seconded and approved to place the Winter Guard fees  to be set at $500.00.  A motion was made, seconded and approved to place the Concert Band fees to be set at $150.00.  A motion was made, seconded and approved to place the Jazz Band fees to be set at $75.00.  All of the above fees include transportation. 

A motion was made, seconded and approved to have the 3 installment dates for band fees to be due as follows:

August 13 -  $225.00     September 15 - $225.00    October 15 - $225.00                                                                                                

A motion was made, seconded and approved to have 2 installment dates for Drum Line, Winter Guard to be due as follows:

Drum Line  January 15 -  $275.00  February 15 - $250.00

Winter Guard   January 15 - $250.00  February 15 - $250.00

Concert Band  fees will be due January 15 at  $150.00

Jazz Band fees will also be due January 15 at $75.00

2/16/08 will be the GOHS Winter Guard Competition

SCPA for Winter Drum Line has asked GOHS Winter Drum Line to host either the Semi Finals or Finals for the 2008 season.

The next board meeting will be held on Thursday, June 7th at 6:30 p.m. in the band room.

New Business

·         Meeting Overview/Transition (Awards Night Symbolic Transition).

·         Budget Meeting: Wed. May 16th @ The Rossi's.

·         Special Board Meeting: Wed. May 23rd @ Band Room (7 PM).

·         Next General Parent Meeting for 2007-08:  Tues., June 5th.

·         Recommendation:  Future Budgets Finalized in early May (e.g. 2008).

·         Bookkeeper:  Update on 2006-07 Accounts (Discussion and approval of transfer of student debt to GOHS Bookkeeper).

·         Fund-raisers:  Reminder of Rubio's on Thurs., May 17th (4-8 PM).  Fliers will be available at the door.  Candles have been disbursed from the Candle Fund-raiser.  Update of QSP Magazine Sales (Renew subscriptions online for 40% profit).  Stater Brothers Grand Re-Opening - Sat., June 15th (Drum Line).

Old Business

·         Update on Awards Night (Timing, and Structure of the Evening);

·         Update on Disney Magic Music Days (Itinerary is developing based on Jazz Clinic and Parade)

·         Update on Course Offerings and Outreach to feeders.
